Happy World Oceans day!
Together we can protect and restore our oceans!
PLASTIC ACCUMULATING IN OUR OCEANS AND ON OUR BEACHES HAS BECOME A GLOBAL CRISIS
Macro plastics affect directly marine animals, such as turtles, seal species, whale, seabirds, all fishes, invertebrates, coral reef, etc.: entanglement, ingestion, damages.
Micro plastics affect health: slower metabolic rate and survival, reduce reproducibility, reduce growth and development.
Micro plastics can enter in the food chain!
But we can also all act individually!
- by reducing our use of single-use plastics
- by recycling properly
- supporting bans
- avoiding products containing micro beads
- and participating or organizing beaches or rivers clean-up!
As an industrial player, Diana Aqua has an important role to play in the oceans preservation.
By reducing pressure on marine resources:
The aquaculture production grows annually by 5%. Capture fisheries are almost stable, and our oceans cannot provide more fishes for the aquaculture.
Our functional hydrolysates help reduce pressure on marine resources. Indeed, 3 points of fish meal can be replaced by 1 point of our functional hydrolysate in aquafeed.
By limiting the use of plastics and encouraging recycling:
A number of local initiatives are being conducted in our subsidiaries to contribute actively to the elimination of plastic pollution. For example, the construction of containers with plastic bottles to recycle plastic in Ecuador, work with our suppliers to reduce the plastic in our packaging in Thailand, use of big bags in Costa Rica, beach cleaning activities in our different countries,...
